ELD Mandate

Fleet compliance platform

ELD Mandate builds electronic logging software for commercial road transport: the systems that keep drivers' hours and vehicle records compliant with regulation. We worked with their product team on delivery, against fixed deadlines and a domain where the rules are not negotiable.

The problem

Problem.

Compliance software is deadline-shaped in both directions: a fleet has to be compliant by a date set by a regulator, and the software has to be right rather than approximately right. That leaves little room for either schedule slip or interpretation.

What we built

Solutions.

Not a feature list, the pieces that had to exist for the product to do what it claims.

01

Feature delivery against fixed dates

Work scoped and shipped to agreed deadlines, in a domain where a missed date has consequences beyond the roadmap.

02

Driver-facing and back-office surfaces

The parts drivers use in the cab and the parts the fleet office uses to oversee them.

They delivered good work on this project and I enjoyed working with them. Communication was top-notch, they met all deadlines, and their skills were strong.

Under the hood

The parts that were genuinely hard.

01

In the client's words

The client's account of the engagement was that the team delivered good work, communication was top-notch, all deadlines were met, and the skills were strong. In a compliance-driven product, meeting the dates is a substantive part of the result.
